About Us

Welcome to Carthvean Alpacas, one of the largest herds in Cornwall. We have been breeding alpacas for over ten years and have a well-established name and reputation. Located in the beautiful South West of Cornwall, visitors are always welcome to visit our farm and see our herd by appointment; we can show you our selection of alpacas for sale, give you advice about keeping alpacas and tell you all about fleeces!

Carthvean Alpacas is run by Julie and Andrew Taylor-Browne. Julie is qualified as a Camelidynamics Instructor with Marty McGee Bennett, the leading camelid trainer in the US and is also a TTEAM Practitioner1 for horses. She gives courses throughout the UK, Europe and Scandinavia. We are the UK stockists for Camelidynamics equipment and run Camelidynamics and other courses here on the farm. Julie trained as a judge with the British Alpaca Society and the British Llama Society and in 2010 judged fleece in the UK, llamas and alpacas in Finland and alpacas in France.

We usually have a number of animals for sale in a range of ages, colours and prices and will talk through with you the practicalities of purchasing alpacas. 

We offer a full aftercare service for owners and help you to learn all aspects of looking after these beautiful animals including shearing, toenail clipping, vaccinating, training and stud services. We also have agistment (livery) at very reasonable terms, for owners without land or who need their animals looked after while they are away.
